 This pre-dyed check shirt weighs over 15 ounces. The UES original selvage fabric is characterized by its wool-like volume and deep colors, despite being 100% cotton. Because the fabric is woven with very thick threads, there are a limited number of looms in Japan that can be used. Furthermore, since old-fashioned shuttle looms are used, the amount that can be produced annually is limited, making it a valuable fabric. Old-fashioned looms are used to gently weave the warp without excessive tension, in order to bring out the natural texture of the yarn. This slows down production, but allows for the creation of a soft and bulky fabric. The shirt hem is piped, and is designed to be worn untucked. Since the fabric is woven using a power loom, the selvage of the fabric can be seen on the folded-back left front edge of the front body. Even in Japan, which is highly regarded for its selvage fabrics, there are only a few shuttle looms that can weave such thick fabric, making it a very rare product. As for the fabric pattern, the check pattern is enlarged to give it an outerwear feel. When cutting the parts, skilled craftsmen work in teams to match the pattern. The larger the pattern, the more fabric is required for one garment. Matching the pattern results in a beautiful finish. Weight: 800g  It began in 1997 with the opening of an antenna shop in Kobe. The name UES comes from "waste," meaning scrap or rubbish. In Japan, used clothes that were repurposed as rags to clean machinery in ironworks and maintenance shops have long been called "ues." We create our products with the hope that they will be used until the very end (becoming ues), without ever sleeping in a closet before fulfilling their purpose.   Beige x Khaki  Green
