This souvenir jacket, featuring a "Hawaii pattern," is a very rare piece from the late 1950s. The main side features a pineapple on the chest and a map of the Hawaiian Islands on the back.
While vintage souvenir jackets often depict Japanese geisha, this piece uniquely replaces the geisha with Hawaiian hula girls.
Souvenir jackets with foreign motifs like Hawaii and Alaska, seen in the 1950s, were produced by Kosho (the predecessor of Tailor Toyo) at the request of the US military's Trans-Pacific PX Merchandise Procurement Headquarters in Ofuna, Kanagawa Prefecture, and delivered to US military bases.

The reversible side features a "Japanese" design of a dragon and tiger glaring at each other. Although these souvenir jackets were sold at PXs (base stores) in Hawaii, they were exported from Japan, resulting in a Japanese-Western hybrid design with "HAWAII" written on the back but an oriental pattern.
The body is silver x green in a "reverse color scheme," creating a refreshing finish reminiscent of tropical Hawaii with bright colors as the main palette.

This is the most standard type of reversible souvenir jacket, using acetate fabric on both sides.
Souvenir jackets from the post-war period used acetate, a non-controlled item with a luxurious feel similar to silk.
As it has no padding, it can be worn in any season, and its unique drape is also an attractive feature.
