 This big silhouette casquette is made from beach cloth, a material emblematic of vintage American casual wear, and its fabric will age beautifully with long-term use. Inspired by 1940s 8-panel newsboy caps, this design features an enlarged crown for a big silhouette. The brim has a core material, allowing for a firm, classic silhouette, and the large crown can be pulled down over the ears for a beret-like style. Beach cloth originated in Massachusetts, USA, in 1900 and was used for cold weather clothing for hunting and outdoor work. It is made from a blend of wool and cotton yarns knitted on a Russell knitting machine, and its excellent warmth is a distinctive feature. It is said to have earned its name because surfers of the time wore it to warm up on the beach.
